The Indian engineering and construction group Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) is one of the largest companies in India’s private sector and the country’s largest in its field. The company dates back to 1938, when two Danish engineers, committed to developing India’s engineering talent, founded it. Today the company is owned by Indians. The relation to Denmark was further enhanced in 1998, when L&T Ramboll was established as a joint venture between L&T and Danish consulting engineers Rambøll, one of Europe’s leading consultancies. The venture utilises the engineering competencies of L&T and Rambøll’s consultancy skills and has resulted in a company with an excellent basis to serve the developing world with large infrastructure solutions such as ports, bridges, and roads.
‘This is a region on the go, with much achieved and more good things to happen.’
